On March 2, 2022, the Government of the Republic of Costa Rica approved Law No. 10113 on Cannabis for Medicinal and Therapeutic Use and Hemp for Food and Industrial Use, as well as its implementing regulations through Executive Decrees No. 43689 and 43724 MP-MAG-S, which regulate and authorize, lawfully, the sowing, cultivation, storage, production, seed reproduction, industrialization, distribution, transportation and marketing of hemp for industrial and food use, its derived products, as well as psychoactive hemp for exclusively medicinal and therapeutic purposes, all with the aim of promoting economic and social development and the adequate distribution of wealth in rural areas of the country.
